Kobe Kane aka Mr. Kobayashi: Longbranch Saloon 7/12
If you've read it on this website or on the @KnoxMusicScene twitter once, you've read it a thousand times: Knoxville has hip-hop. And when we say that Knoxville has hip-hop, we don't mean a second-rate roster of rappers that leaves a city envying the rap scenes of an Atlanta, Chicago, or New York. Knoxville has quality hip-hop. It's alarming how many don't know this.
Per his website, Mr. Kobayashi says that he wants to revolutionize the hip-hop culture by bringing back it's most fundamental elements. Lyricism, creativity, and storytelling, which is rapidly becoming a lost art in hip-hop, are Kobe's main focus. A man with as much passion and vision as Kobayashi is what you want in a hip-hop artist that represents your city.
If you want to see first hand that Knoxville has hip-hop, you can see Mr. Kobayashi at The Longbranch Saloon Friday with four other hip-hop acts. The show starts at 9pm.
