One of my biggest goals is to raise the overall level of interest in Hip-Hop in Knoxville. Radio airwaves are cluttered with Yung Money and a handful of other mainstream crews. I enjoy Lil' Wayne, 2 Chainz, and the rest of the guys dominating the media as much as the next guy, but there is more out there. By and large hip-hop gets misrepresented. People are constantly underestimating how intellectual, how musical, and how engaging hip-hop can be. In fact, right here in Knoxville, there is hip-hop; quality hip-hop. The Theorizt is a group to look out for. Original. Quality. Transcendent of most categorizations to a traditional genre. I hesitate to compare them to The Roots just because they play with a full band. Although, I think that comparison would be a compliment that would not be totally off-base. Suffice it to say, they have their own thing going on. They're not a clone of anybody, and their music is worth checking out for sure.
