I have to be honest here. I'm not 100% feelin' Tyga as a Volapalooza headliner. Allow me to explain. I think Volapalooza is a great thing, but a rap show is difficult to pull off in an arena setting. Kanye's concert in TBA even got a little boring for me, and I love Kanye, AND he had an orchestra playing with him. Tyga does not instill me with a ton of confidence that he can bring that level of showmanship to be worth sticking around for his set. Look, I'm not even necessarily saying that I don't like Tyga. I'm just saying that I would have to already be free. If he were here on a Tuesday, ya know, who knows? Also, to stack him up against past headliners like Passion Pit, Ben Folds, Robert Randolph, and Cake, I don't know how well he measures up. Look, if you thought that I was here to pump sunshine up the butts of every act that comes through town, you are mistaken. Mistaken I say! Here's my suggestion for UT students regarding Volapalooza: Go check out the hometown guy DJ Mike Nasty, stick around for Beats Antique, then head over to Pilot Light for Diarrhea Planet and Yung Life. I will say this about Tyga though, this music video is pretty sick.
