Night Colors Light Up The Christmas Season With A Cover Of "Last Christmas" by Wham!

Another one! It seems like every day a Knoxville band puts out a quality Christmas cover. Night Colors is the latest band to come in and brighten up the season with a holiday release.

Night Colors released a live in-studio video of their cover of "Last Christmas" by Wham!. The video has some players folks may recognize from other projects like Travis Bigwood (Sweet Years and Guy Marshall) on bass, Will Carter on guitar, and Asher Coker (Cerulia) on drums.

This cover features excellent harmonies from Night Colors' Hannah and Elijah Cruise, an up-tempo beat, and a guitar interlude soloing of the melody to "Sleigh Ride." The song was produced by Will Carter, and the video was filmed at Eleanor Studios and directed by Neil Irvin.

Here's a fun fact about this song: "Last Christmas" has surpassed Wham!'s most popular non-Spotify song "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" in terms of total plays on Spotify.

Four Songs of Christmas Magic From Joey English

Knoxville bands/artists have been coming down the chimney with some great holiday releases this year. Joey English has the latest such release with his three-song set titled Christmas On My Roof. It kicks off with a wonderful Christmas original and title track. Next is a beautifully melancholy rendition of "I'll Be Home For Christmas." Third on the track list is "Still Still Still," a German tune that you certainly don't need to be fluent in German to enjoy. The EP closes with a dreamy duet featuring Ashley Roxanne Murray of the Christmas standard "What Child Is This." All of these songs can be best enjoyed next to a crackling fire.

"The instinctual inclination during winter is to hoard, to conserve, to go inward. Just look outside, nature demonstrates this well enough. What a twist we put on it through the act of giving -- it's like breathing underwater, or brightening the long dark nights with colorful Christmas lights. I hope this little three-songer is somehow part of that cycle." - Joey English

Adeem The Artist Enlists A 'Scruffy Choir' For New Holiday Song "Scruffy Little Christmas"

I'm such a sucker for holiday songs with sleighbells and horns and any song that mentions Knoxville landmarks. Adeem The Artist's "Scruffy Little Christmas" has both and it's currently making me melt like the fraser fir Christmas tree scented candle burning right next to me as I type this.

The song features Dale Mackey, whom you may know from Dale's Fried Pies, on trumpet as well as a caroling choir of friends. It's credited as the "Scruffy Choir" and it includes Mackey, George Middlebrooks, Shawn Pointer, James Kolpack, Jody Collins, Robert Felker, Meg Dooley, and Hannah Bingham.
