Knoxville Man Shares The Stage With Foo Fighters At Thompson-Boling Arena

"Holy sh**. I mean, all you have to do is look at him to know he f***in shreds." It's pretty cool to hear Dave Grohl give such high praise to a hometown guy on Knoxville's biggest stage.

On Wednesday, Foo Fighters' Concrete and Gold Tour came to Thompson-Boling Arena. During the show they had a nice surprise to an unsuspecting Knoxville crowd. Dave Grohl called up to the stage Mick Murphy, a Knoxville-born guitarist to do Van Halen's "Eruption" and "You Really Got Me." Murphy played with Knoxville's own Hypertribe in the 90s. More recently he played in a classic rock cover band called Chevy Metal with FF drummer Taylor Hawkins.

Dave Grohl (as you can see in the video above) said as they brought Murphy on stage, "I don't know if we could shred the Halen sh** if it weren't for our good friend Mick who's a local, who we've jammed with for a long time."

Here's one more view of the cover with a little less shakiness.
